Well Richard out of 15 supposed "views" yours is the only comment. Apparently if it's longer than a post to read, most don't. Statistically speaking, according to the book publishers themselves only 10% of those who actually buy a book ever even open it and read up to the first chapter and out of that 10% only 10% of those ever finish the book. So grand total is 1% read what they bought and we know to get many to actually buy it is like pulling hens teeth to start with.
Glad it tampered with your belief system, very overdue for most IMHO. I've known most of whats in that well researched article since my teens and am still amazed how few as adults do. It's long overdue for those who want to stick to every word of the bible as their only "true" source. If that threw you for a loop, it's a good thing and if you really want your timbers shivered start looking at David Icke's stuff like The Biggest secret etc, too numerous to mention here. If you use any P2P software (winmx, limewire etc.) you can download the videos of his talks. Good Stuff. If this blew your beliefs; you better wear protective gear to hear/see or read his info. Guaranteed to get your attention. LOL

I haven't read it all yet, but it makes a lot of sense. Hell, even our historians here, in the US have kept important information out of history books...in essence, changing history as we know it! It is unfortunate that only people who lived at the time during the writing process (or even before it) are the ones that know for sure.

I still think that some of what is taught from the bible today is good for children in their references to moral lessons, miracles and loving God. But, there is still a lot of things I wouldn't take stock in. Who really knows who wrote what and how they interpreted it at the time...or who changed it along the way for that matter!

One other thing I'd like to know (everyone's opinions or if they know something more factual) is what is the "religion" that would be closest to what actually occurred at the time of Jesus? Judaism? Christianity? Mormon? Islam? Do any of them actually measure up? Or are we spiritualist really the only ones on the right track?

Thanks for another awesome article Mark!

Well Lisa, since you asked, none of the above is the answer. First so called christianity wasn't invented yet, and Mohammed wasn't born for another 600 years, so Islam is out, no Mormons till far more recently, Jews as we know them today didn't exist , but their more accurate forerunners the Kabbalists did, not to be confused with many of todays wannabe "kabbalists" like Hollywoods flavor of the month "religion", like Roseanne Barr. Jesus was said to be jewish, however that's conjecture at this point. He was definitely an Essene amongst other things and studied lots of different "mystery schools" as well as a very diverse list of teachings at the time. I saw a book "channeled" of Jesus, similar to CWG and God books. In it Jesus was asked if he were in a physical body on earth today; would he be a christian? He said, that's just one of many falsehoods my name has been attributed to. He also went on to say, why would I join any group of any name that seperates people into groups rather than as just one group. That's against everything I taught and believe. So it makes much more sense to me to say none of the above groups; but I do believe the truly spiritual people, then as well as now, know that the true "church" is within them, not the buildings of stone and wood built over the pagan worship sites as many cathedrals are. Well that oughta be enough said not to further bother those whose indoctrinated since childhood beliefs are being challenged to strech their envelopes to the breaking point. But real growth is a good thing.

You know Mark, many years ago I followed the christian road to the point of pregraduate studies in theology and then attending seminary and ordained.
One day as I sat in my office and looked at my voluminous book shelf and became aware out of all those books I spent all my time engrossed in only one.
At the same time a parishioner confided in me that he at will could lie on his bed and travel to distant places, Thankfully even though it literally blew my mind I didn't
attribute it to satan as would have been the normal choice of thought at that time. All this was the beginning of my spiritual quest.
Iknow the experience of the christian path including much of the history.
Now all I can do for them is convey my deepest compassion and send them the energy of the light.
Really enjoy your post.
Love
Richard

Good Points Richard. Yes compassion is needed and also for many something as subtle as a Mack truck to get their attention away from their religious "brainwashing". I was married to 2 women who right after being wed changed to Jehovah's Witnesses, so after 26 1/2 years of hearing satan or the demons blamed for everything that didn't agree with the JW's I decided I was free to once again pursue the truth. Instantly and ever since, it's been a deluge and I wouldn't trade it for all the millions of dollars I gave away in those divorces. Much of the history including religions is being challenged currently due to recent findings. David Icke the author/ex reporter has some interesting info along these lines.

I kind of figured there would be no religion that measured up even slightly to spiritualism. Thanks again Mark! Great quote from Lenny Bruce, too.

Indeed Yeshua was an Essene. Fortunately, we still exist today. There are missing booksof Scripture that were not included in the official canon for one reason or another, but are quoted as scripture by accepted Biblical authors. For example, Book of Enoch and Jubilees.

What people don't always realise is that churches are social and political organisations, as much as spiritual. As such they serve many worthwhile purposes. They provide community and do many good works.

I was raised Catholic but we rarely read the Bible - just parts of it in the missal. The 'rules' of the Irish Catholic church in my community were more important than anything else. As a young adult (17) I left the church because intellectually I knew its teaching did not hold water. I had been quite devout but understand that now as a yearning for God, as I understood him.

Of course, history reveals that the bible has been rewritten a number of times, and that Jesus as he lived was a very different man from the man of which we hear so many different versions today.

The bible aside, the principle which seems to underpin all the major religions is Love God and love thy neighbour . What a pity that many seem to have gotten so far away from this. Many people have co opted the message of love for their own political purposes or have been overwhelmed by fear. Fear, not love often prevails.

But it is not too late and there is so much unrecognised goodness and love in the world.

Whatever the Bible is, and whatever one thinks about it, the absolute word of God or a completely corrupted document, in the end it is all just "fluff".
It may be of interest to academics but I have no idea why ordinary people waste their time on such things.

Instead of working with it or not, as the case may be, we talk about it.

I felt the need to respond to this post. The bible has many excellent teachings and stories, and at one point in my life i believed that it was the absolute word of God. But once you do some research on the origins of the bible, who wrote it, and mainly what was left out of it, your perspective changes. Over 80 "gospels" are not included for various reasons which are far to numerous to name without writeing my own novel on the subject. My answers come from my soul and i'll give you nothing less then what comes fromt he core of my being. Religions of the world are all frauds. Churches all over the world are stealing money from their people on behalf of what they claim is God. In many cases i've seen they ask you to sign over 10% of your monthly earnings to help your church prosper. Yes perhaps they do help their comunities in various ways, but if you look at the leader of your church i garentee he's driving a gorgious car and has a monsterous house.

God doesn't want your money, he doesn't want you to pray to him in huge crowds (refer to matt 6 for biblical proof of that) he doesn't want you to go out on a mission across the world to spread the faith. All he wants is a personal relationship with you, dedication by meditation is what i call it

The only real religion is no religion at all! The world would be a beautiful place if all religions were gone because they are merely an "outdated way of keeping people in line".

Dedication to your own spirit is Gods way...

I agree religions are a damnation to our world society. Ancient and modern history make it very clear.
Another thing that blows my mind is the beleif that God needs adoration. Man he/she sure must have a big ego. God is some thing that Man manufactured centries ago, it is time for all of us to dump thaat old idea and move on. How about love and compassion for all people and joy in life

God does not need adoration, but people need something to adore (value, esteem) and adoring ourselves, our thoughts, our outrage, our resentments, our judgments, our justifications is just such a poor substitute.
