Online Odinations?

In June of 2013 I went online to become an ordained minister to perform a wedding ceremony for someone I knew. I always believed in God but did not believe in main line churches because of they way dictate to the members. I never wanted to use the ordination certificate to start a church but to help people like performing weddings, funerals, and I don't feel I am a counselor but can encourage them to be better people. I was wondering what people thought about becoming ordained online how to use it.

I think if that is something a person chooses to do, then that's good on their part, but as a consumer looking for such a service, I would not choose a person that obtained it online, and if they did obtain it online, I would want someone with credentials, someone who has a college degree to back up being an ordained minister such as a Master of Divinity degree. Having that degree, I know that the person did have training in counseling, knowledge in sociology and ethics. I would know that they are indeed educated. I guess to me, a persons beliefs would not be enough for me. And to me, anything less would be like obtaining credentials through a diploma mill, and pretty much anybody can obtain that.
