So I read about this Guy who started a new religion, he teaches similar things as in most eastern philisophical teachings and spiritualities. I think maybe im missing something because i cant seem to really find much wrong with him. But he has gotten lots of critisism...

does anyone have any info on this guy?

Hi,
About Adi Da:
From 1980 to 1990, philosophical theorist and author Ken Wilber wrote a number of enthusiastic endorsements and forewords for Adi Da's books, including The Dawn Horse Testament, The Divine Emergence of the World-Teacher, and Scientific Proof of the Existence of God Will Soon Be Announced by the White House!
Wilber also recommended Adi Da as a spiritual teacher to those interested in his own writings.
Later, Wilber alternated between praise and pointed criticism. In his last public statement concerning Adi Da he wrote: "I affirm all of the extremes of my statements about Da: he is one of the greatest spiritual Realizers of all time, in my opinion, and yet other aspects of his personality lag far behind those extraordinary heights. By all means look to him for utterly profound revelations, unequaled in many ways; yet step into his community at your own risk."
End of Quote.
In other words: buyers beware!

PS: look him up on en.wikipedia.org, that's where I got the above quote from.

well i find any religion that strives toward spiritual truth ( as opposed to promises of a heavenly home)
is worth looking into and has the potential to enlighten people.

Absolutely! I remember when I was in my 20’s, like you are now, and how I enjoyed learning about the different spiritual influences in the 70’s. It was a wonderful time.
At some point I found something that may be of value to you. It’s the 1-2-3 rule from a Zen tradition.
Daily practice: Read 1 hour. Meditate 2 hours. Write 3 hours.
It wasn’t always possible to keep the exact hours, but I tried to keep the proportions pretty much intact. That 1-2-3 practice really helped me a lot. The balance between input, digestion, and output seems pretty much right on.

I don't focus on any practice really of any time. But I found great inspiration from the modern scripture Be Here Now by ram das.
I suspect that spiritual movements in the seventies failed because ultimately the world wasn't ready and it was too soon. But now it is ready and so we now have Ajah as well as several other emmergeing spiritualities that would adequately serve the purpose of spiritual growth.

Hi,
I am sorry and I am saying this with love, but you sound a bit condescending.
As long as you don't practice and just live off inspiration based on someone else's scripture, you really don't know anything of value.

i apologise for sounding condecending... i often am rough with my speech. its never been a strong suit of mine.

i believe any one can become enlightened, but rather than traveling a long difficult path of hit and miss. It is much easier to practice Guru yoga, simply trusting in an Gurus words and teaching as truth, thus skiping the whole "searching" part of the journey.
it has the obvious downfall, with the occurence of 'false messiahs'. But granted that the Guru is genuine in body, mind, and soul, he serves as a conduit of God, the true self. As he is the true self with in his word is revelation, and thus by obeying his 'spiritual' instruction one quickly attains liberation... 'spiritual' not personal, a sure sign of a faker is that the guru continually acts as an authority of how to live your personal life, a guru is there to teach you how to be healthy, joyful, and sacred. what you do on your own time is between you and God.
the reason Gurus have a bad rap in the west is because of all the wannabe's and con artist.
my buddy commented "less Fakirs and more fakers"

one must choose a genuine and proper spiritual teacher for this to work, some of these teachers will record they're teachings in Books for later generations to learn from.
many claim to be gurus, some will guide you to liberation, many will guide you to the poor house.

G'day

I don't know anything about Adi Da but I do know some great teachers & mentalists of our times have been a little loony/crazy in the head. The reason for this might vary but for a spiritualist the knowing of such great insightful knowledge could turn some spiritualists crazy I believe.

Love
Mathew
