you have ever felt sick the day after an intense yoga or meditation practice of some sort? my yoga practice yesterday was different and slightly more vigorous than my usual routine and today aside from being a little bit sore, my head is congested, i feel disoriented, and hot like i have a fever. anybody else have similar experiences?

My sense is that you haven't grounded extra energy that you invoked during the meditation; especially as you seem to a buoyant personality, so you are feeling ungrounded, or all up in the air.

Do a Grounding Meditation to release excess energy to Mother Earth or bless someone.

Pay attention to your body, it will always tell you how much is enough, always.

it's funny that you mention that, because i was doing a grounding meditation... i was doing a lot of grounding poses as i was feeling "all up in the air." but instead i just ended up feeling yucky the next day. hmm...

There can be two reasons then either you went quite high, and became unstable, and instead of coming down slowly you must rushed your energies down, it became more imbalanced.

Another reason could be, some kind of cleansing initiated by the new energies that you introduced into your system, purging is natural and essential sometimes, before you can fully assimilate new energies in.

Personally I feel it is a case of 'crash landing'.

In the case you were alone, I agree with Morningstar, the "crash Landing" is a good way to describe it

The symptoms you named are just a few that can occur when you have a spiritual awakening, or reach a new level of awakening. You open a door and energy comes in. Your cleansing your body of impurities, washing them out causes the gunk to take physical form. Congestion, aching, fever, perfuse sweating, sometimes diarrhea, vomiting, bad breathe when you dont normally have it. This can be accompanied with extreme thirst or a sudden desire to change your diet or eating habits. Things will taste different. Its because something in your body/mind/soul has realized that what you are eating isnt what you need, so it makes you not want it, at least until the need comes again for that particular vitamin, mineral, protein, enzyme, fat, carb. Hope that helps. The symptoms may last 3-5 days.

HAHA, how about you have ALL OF THE ABOVE.

You probably needed to ground yourself, but the most important thing is that you are just in shift.

It is a good thing, although you feel like crap, after some time, depending on how long you will be in shift, you will feel better afterwards.

Sometimes people get sick, or I like to call the energy flu when they are around a lot of people that do energy work, or Reiki. Once your body clears whatever it is ready to clear, then you feel much better, better than you did before you were reacting to the clearing.

At this time I just had an adjustment and laser work done to me this after, and I don't feel so well. I was fully expecting this AND looking forward to it, it was really cool. Anywho, I am in shift right now and will be for a few days.

Embrace it and tell Spirit to get on with it, hehe. If you get too bad sometimes, just say that you would like the dosage to lessen, cause it can be very intense.

Sometmes when we are sick, it isnt anything someone gave us, or something medication will help.

thanks everyone for your great advice. the next day i did a similar practice, but i really concentrated on directing my energy down into the ground and i felt much better. it was weird i just had a cold for one day hehe. i still am feeling disoriented at times, especially when i'm practicing yoga... like i'll go into a pose and then my field of vision will just shift, kind of like you're watching tv and then someone came into the room and pushed the tv over two inches. so i feel like everything is realigning. but even though i kinda feel sick and disoriented, it's kind of cool and i'm enjoying it because i'm clearing my body of negative energies. this is the first time any of this has ever happened to me really, so it's very fascinating and exciting for me.

You are opening up big time. You are going to feel more tickles in other areas of your body too. This is really only the beginning. The top of you head my tingle too. There are probably other parts of your body that gets these tingles, pay attention to it. Some people say that it is your brow chakra opening and stuff like that, waking up, or activating. But our bodies do things that we sometimes don't have answers for. I would say just pay attention when it does, could be a "heads up"

I used to get tingled to death, but not anymore. The more you begin to open your energy fields and clear stuff out and bring more LIGHT into the body, things shift and you feel other sensations. Sometimes you don't feel them at all, I used to get cob-webbed to death (Angels to do), now they don't do it anymore, so it really depends.

Once you open up more, its like there are other ways for Spirit to communicate with you besides the area they used in the beginning. What was once a stream, is now a river or ocean. So the sensations change and differ. It just means you are growing.

What I would remind you is that you just need to do meditations of GROUNDING, that is it. No traveling, no guided meditations UNTIL you feel you are ready to do. Just sit and place yourself in the ground. Ask Spirit to assist you with this, also -- Ask Spirit to "Make you a part of this Earth, and to make you feel at Home"

Grounding meditations are just as effective if not more than chakra clearing and all other things people say to meditate on or for. Grounding is sooo very important and is just as powerful. It is a must and necessary, if not you are going to fly out of your body in the tiniest situations.

When we begin to delve into these practices, we sometimes don't know the great affect our actions cause. For someone who doesn't practice these things, it could be a RIPPLE, but for someone who meditates and does energy work, or yoga, or breath work, they create WAVES. So we must be more wise with our thoughts and actions because we cause damage.(more to ourselves than others)

I do believe that is VERY important for you at this time as well, to feel AT HOME here on Earth. That will keep you from becoming ungrounded very easily because most of the time, many of us are aware that this isn't our true home and we try to go back or stay there.

Your practices are much more powerful than what you think. So one pose is doing a lot more to your body and consciousness than you are feeling. Remember, things happen to us on more than just the physical level, so there are many things occurring to your body at the same time you are meditating, doing yoga, laughing, anything that is bringing you balance or opening up clearing.

Get some hematite or other grounding stones and wear them, they make rings and bracelets.

Take care.

Last night I did an intense dance/yoga to Eastern music, ending in meditation and chakra work with my hands. The room was dark except for a candle and a mirror. All during the night, I couldn't get enough water (not sure where it all went, either!). Today, my head at my temples feel like they are being pressed in. My brows even hurt. I'm exhausted. The latter isn't unusual, as I have fibromyalgia. But the other stuff is unusual. I am a yoga teacher, but I don't teach the more esoteric aspects (community I live in would not be receptive). I do practice it, though. This is the first time I have had such an 'sick' reaction. So, I googled it, and up came this site, so I joined.

When you delve into energy and strengthen it, it becomes more receptive and sensitive, normal dealings with the energies will feel less severe when you just start out, but after a while it becomes stronger and that is mostly the point people face the simple question of am i ready to deal with this?

If so then learning to decipher the reactions helps you learn what they are, surviving through them makes your stronger or more adapted, easy enough that way to build up a solid base.

Also nauseaousness and heat sensations are mainly the result of energy becomming active within you and you adapting to it, just like growth can come with growth pains and uneasiness.
Also taking in and storing too much energy can cause fever like sensations and will mess up your natural flow causing various sensations.

Several ways to deal with it though, first is using a healthy flow of yourself and the ground as you would do in grounding.
Second drink water, it has the tendancy to store excess energy in there and then to the processing areas and dump it

Third, when meditating try not to force it, or when you are feeling bad then you can allways use a mantra or focus through a specific word invoking the functions you relate to them.

In other words think of health, or heal, or something similair, that way you actively make your energy focus on the task of fixing your body and energy systems.

That should do it, and try not to use mirrors when meditating, candlelight and a mirror is a sure guarantee to have some illusion or mirage taking place wich can make you panic.

Wich is the 4th part, don`t panic, when you do it just speeds up bad stuff, causes stress and then the stress is working against you aswell so you obviously don`t want that.

Calmth saves the person they sometimes say.

Yeah. I think it could be a grounding issue. A great way to get grounded is to put on nature meditation music or any relaxing music with a beat. First bend your knees and start shaking up and down via the bending of the knees. Let the whole body shake and focus on your feet and the radiance of the earth energy. Eventually the earth energy will take over and put you into spontaneous dance, it is a trance like state where you feel like you are swimming in a sea of energy. When you get deep into this state you no longeer get tired and are being fueled by the radiance of the earth energy, at this point many people say it feels tantric or experience joy and bliss. Eyes should be closed.

Overload of Chi, Prana, or the energy form one is working with, can easily lead to the symptoms described.
The physcial body and energetic body form one unit and the physical body needs time to adjust to changes in the energy body. If the changes required are to big then this is felt as some kind of discomfort which can reach quite severe levels.
