How can I stay in body?

Hello to everyone. I am Alex, 20 years old. Turning back to the time when I was a child, I can say that my parents were not be made one for each other, in fact their zodiacal signs tells a big difference. They always talked from opposite points of view. My mother is a sensible soul and my father is more rational and I think that he needs more intelectual stimulation for being present.
During those years, being a child I grew up in one family when screams and ilogical reasons for them were at their home. WIthout knowing how to protect myself each time, even in many times I went to different rooms and was preoccupied with something else, I think that when I did not do that I choosed to project my astral body out of my physical one, for not being present anymore at those screamings because of traumas that I felt when I was more present.
The problem is that I grew up in this way, and thanking to Lord which started to open my eyes in this year because till now I was an completely absent person during my teenager years, I started to read more about those topics and I became aware that I am a very spiritual person, my LIfe Path number being 7.
My question is what techniques can I adopt daily for learning again to ground myself in the physical body and not being so much daydreamer ? I left masturbation, I intention to resume Facebook opening at just one open in the evening for educational purpose or talking with one friend. I mention in the ending that I study computer programming and is very hard for me to turn on the logical thinking when I am out of the body or partially in it.
Thank you in advance, all and God bless you.

Alex

Hi, Alex. Good that you are working on these things, now. A few things come to mind.

Purely for grounding, you can do the Tree Meditation. I have encountered a few versions of it and this is my own, embellished, version: Stand up with your feet a bit apart, knees bent just enough that you can feel it, not that it looks so. Close eyes, imagine that you are a tree, send roots down into the ground. Have you ever seen a large tree on a hillside, so that some of the vast root system is exposed? Some trees, like pines, have very strong, large root systems that are basically like their tops, just underground. So, send the roots down and around, through the dirt, and then feel how it feels to be "rooted". Imagine drawing the energy up into your trunk, and up, out through your head, into the stars. Imagine growing a treetop, with branches and leaves, all reflecting the light of life and sending and receiving energy, as far out as the farthest stars. Bring the energy down, through the trunk, being nurtured by it, and down through the roots, into the ground, then reverse it, again. You can also imagine your trunk and leaves providing shelter to various animals, holding them securely, the leaves winking in moonlight, or whatever pleases you.

You can practice grounding with a friend. First, just stand. Let them push you. See if you go off balance. Then, do the root exercise, and have them do it again. See if it feels better. After a while, you can project roots and grounding anytime, even walking, or talking.

Also, psychotherapy (talk therapy, but also other things, like "rebirthing", and a variety of techniques out there) is very good for releasing old ingrained patterns we learned when we were too young to decide how they would serve us, as adults, which now are not serving, well. After some time, when therapy has provided a solid ground for releasing trauma, one can progress to more challenging forms of release, like EMDR. But, baby steps. Safety first!

And, daydreaming has its purpose, too.

Last, but not least, you can learn to meditate. You can experiment with several systems, learning the ropes, and when you are proficient, you can eventually do it, without a technique. There are free meditation classes almost everywhere. I used to go to a Tibetan meditation center, where I learned Shamatha, a good technique, Zen temples offer Zazen. There are others. Meditation helps one to differentiate between one's innate state and temporary states, like emotions and though patterns, so that one can stand more firmly in oneself.

@Bluwyte First, thank you for your answer. These two days I red more about grounding techniques and I find your Tree Meditation useful, I will combine it with thymus tapping, one proven method from Chinese Medicine that stimulates the thymus gland for releasing T hormone for boosting energy levels that I can use for doing my grounding exercises and for academic performances.
I do different types of meditation whenever I remember, for example when walking on a secure road in the morning going for running barefoot I do it with eyes closed while relaxing my shoulders and elbows so I can concentrate more on the root side.
I think there is an entire philosophy in having care first for the root or things and those "baby steps" as you said. Even in recent years when I worked out in gym I made the mystake to train more the upper body for image. I started to learn that image is harmful and in every aspect of my life, starting with programming and finishing with Yoga or other forms of training, the roots will become essentials.
Thank you again for your answer. Wish you a good day.

Alex
