Needing guidance and help please

Hello all,
I am very new to this and this is my first forum. All my li fe I have had feelings/dreams linked to I think spirits. I also have experienced being held and pulled by a spirit. Yesterday I had a reading for the first time with a very well known and accredited psychic. As I entered her home and sat she asked me why I was here and explained that there was a lot of spirits and noise she was hearing, she said they were there to come through me and that I have the gift but I won't open up fully. My mum past when I was 12 and she said my mum knows this and now is the right time to open up to what I see and hear or I will lose it. I was a very sad scared child and used to get frightened of what I would see , I remember things. The psychic said I was not strong enough then but now is the right time and to embrace it. I have suffered from mild depression and I thought the voices could mean I was ill but she assured me yesterday it was spirits. I am so confused as I don't know how to open my mind, I don't know how to receive them or start or stop them, All I know is that I finally want to acknowledge what is happening to me and embrace it if it is real. My grandmother, father are true Romany Gypsies , granny would use tea leaves and turn the tea cup and people would sit in grans posh trailer. Dad would look into cups but would not let me and told me after mummy death to leave things like that alone. So you see there could be some truth to me having something as she said but I really need advice and guidance and truth to decide if I embrace this or just carry on as I do . Please post and help me , I don't know what to do or how to do it. Thank you for reading my post 😕

Hi there,

I am also new to this forum; however, I wanted to give you my experience of your fears.

When I was guided to tap into my abilities, the woman who was helping me told me to recognize my "gatekeeper". This is an entity who may have always been spirit or may have once been corporeal who stands as a barrier between you and the spirits and energy surrounding you. Cultivating a relationship with your gatekeeper ensures that you are not overwhelmed and can nourish your own abilities while they build and you can do your own gatekeeping

So that would be my advice. First, understand that there is an entity that is keeping you safe and meditate on that relationship; and second, understand that embracing your ability is just about embracing you, not embracing the energy you see/hear/feel. Allow yourself to take the journey slow and learn your unique way of translating the energy of life and enjoy yourself along the way.

Heartlight. Thank you so much for your valued advice. I am not sure how to meditate and how to think of my gatekeeper. Do I just lie there and think of the gatekeeper, relax and let whatever enter my mind. I'm am really at the very beginning sorry. All I know is I dream and hear and feel things . When I feel a presence should I just say hello and talk to whatever's there . I have made an appointment to go back to the medium for her help but please would you keep in touch with me and share your experiences at the very beginning on your journey. Thank you so much for replying and I really hope I hear from you again x

Everyone was a beginner at some point

You may want to start just practicing guided meditations. I found a basic one this morning on youtube:

Becoming practiced at putting yourself in a relaxed state will be important. Eventually, you will be able to guide your own meditation in your own mind. Meditation is about calming the conscious mind - not about thinking of nothing, because that is impossible. Some people use mantras - focusing the mind on one word or phrase; some people use laughter - laughter yoga meditation, because when you laugh it's hard to be thinking; and some people just use imagery, these are the guided meditations or the focus meditations.

After you have practiced some days, you can put on some calming music and guide yourself. When you are ready for that, you can ask for your gatekeeper to make its presence known to you.

You could do that anyway, even when not meditating, but having a calm mind allows you to more readily experience what will be for you to experience.

You ask should you "let whatever enter my mind" and the answer is always yes. But the key is to not judge that which you are experiencing. Find it interesting. If it feels to dialog with it, then do so. If it feels to just acknowledge it, do so.

The real key, I found, is to have patience and make space in your mind and in your expectations to *learn* how you experience the energy, because everyone experiences it uniquely.

Be calm, here and now, let go of your anxiety and let your experiences come to you.

Meditation is simply resting in one's natural state of mind. What makes it seem hard to some, sometimes, is just that we have the habit of identifying ourselves with our experiences. After we get the hang of letting go of that, it becomes easier.

I learned to meditate on my own, when I was 11. In a drama class at school, we learned a relaxation technique which I really liked, to do before acting practice. I used to do it every day when I got home, for an hour or so, before my parents returned from work. Eventually, I learned to skip the body part and go straight to meditation, and over many years, studied several meditation techniques. Decades later, I realized that this technique is similar to one taught by Swami Yogananda, in the first half of the last century.

Here's how to do it: lie down on the floor, facing up, letting the legs and feet relax out, and placing the arms several inches from the sides of the body. Get comfortable. Focus on the toes. Without actually contracting any muscles, imagine slightly contracting muscles in the toes, and letting them relax. Move to the ball of the foot and do it again, then the arches, the heels, the ankles, and so on, all of the way up the body to the top of the head. It might take a half hour or 45 minutes, if you do it several times in each spot. At the end, just lie there, relaxed, not thinking about anything, just feeling and being, until you are ready to get up. Besides relaxing the body, this technique has the advantage of keeping the mind focused on only one thing, for quite some time, so the chatter quiets down.

So, I wanted to add something to assist with the feeling of other entities or attachments.

This is a combination of a few things I've learned. I'll give credit, where I can.

There are some channeled entities/teachers called Orin & Daben who have very advanced light work techniques. I had a friend who practiced them a lot and became a teacher of the techniques. She always looked like she was shining with light, like a lightbulb. I tried to learn the first level using tapes and materials she gave me, but ended up getting some energy stuck that I couldn't release (had to have another energy healer release it for me) and decided that, as much as I would like to learn it, I needed to be in an actual class. However, I did learn some easy stuff from their newsletter, and that is the basis for this:

Imagine the brightest light you can. I use the glint of the sun off of a windshield, but a strobe light or flood light would work, too. Whatever you like. Imagine a cloud of that light. Practice keeping the brightness up. I find that challenging.

Then, imagine that the light is made of particles of light, all moving around.

Then, have them moving around and also twinkling or blinking in and out of existence, like quantum light (or something - sorry, scientists, it's just an image, lol).

So, see the field of the brightest light you can imagine, with moving particles, blinking.

Then, practice bathing any problem in this light. I find even a quick bath helps. I used it when I am feeling conflict with someone or expecting a conflict to develop. I place myself, and the other/s in the cloud, then turn up the light so brightly that it makes it impossible to see the figures, and I keep it that way for as long as I can. It always seems to dissolve tensions, in real life, afterwards.

So, back to the presences.

Sit or rest in a comfortable way, with eyes closed. See yourself, with eyes closed. Sense your body and your "sense" of being present.

Now, I'm adapting something else that came before this, in my use of it. It came via a psychic healer guy I knew, whose name I have forgotten, who, I think, had adapted it from the Berkeley Psychic Institute.

Imagine two dials in front of you, like a speedometer on a car, but two of them. They measure...let's say...for this purpose...How completely present you are in your energy field (on the left dial), and how much of your field is taken up by undesirable foreign presences (on the right).

[I specify undesirable because some beings have permission to be in our fields, like, for instance, I once realized that my rescue dog was very close in my field, and was grounding partly through me. The above mentioned guy felt that this kind of thing is wrong, as anyone in our field can influence us. But, that guy is a strange, not very loving guy, and I don't want to be like him. Also, when I think about it, I can't think of anything my beloved dog would want that I, also, would not want, also, I offer him support and safety. So, he has permission to be in my field.]

In your mind, after you notice where the needles in the dials are, just move the left dial to 100%, and the right dial to 0. Then, begin to fill your energy field (you can imagine it being a cloud of light around you for about a foot or two out from your body. This can be moved in and out, at will.) with the bright, sparkling light from the last exercise.

I was taught this exercise for a different reason that you asked about, but when I used it, it had the effect of expelling a very icky, manipulative person from my field that had been there since I was about 10 or 11. I knew the person, I just didn't know he was stuck in my field. The idea is that negative energies vibrate at a lower frequency than this very high frequency light in the technique, and they can't tolerate it, so they leave.

I don't know if this is true, 100%, across the board. I can't see spirits all of the time, and I'm not wise enough to analyze everyone's motives. I have just noticed that this does work, sometimes. The guy stressed that one should not get into power struggles with other entities, because, well, then you're in a power struggle, and who wants that? But, your field is your "real estate" and you get to say what happens in/to it. So, you can kick others out. But, asking first, is nice. Also, I have sometimes not been very nice, and just said that I will bath them in this light, if they don't leave, and then get to it. Another teacher I knew stressed that, when making energies leave our fields, it is good to thank them for their gifts, the idea being that we are all part of one big evolutionary path and even unpleasantness plays a roll in evolution.

You can sit and fill your field with this light, and continue to pump up the brightness, for as long as you like. See if it helps. Then, of course, rest, afterwards, and maybe give a command like that your energy field should reset itself to it's optimal levels.
