Why lose memories from past lives?

392. Why does the incarnated spirit lose the remembrance of his past?

"Man cannot, and may not, know everything; God, in His wisdom, has so ordained. Without the veil which hides certain things from his view, man would be dazzled, like one who passes suddenly from darkness to light. Through the forgetfulness of his past a man is more fully himself."

THE SPIRITS’ BOOK from Allan Kardec questions 392 to 399.

Good reading

It's both simple, obvious and you don't need some dusty old book to show you that it's to have a fresh start and enjoy a completely new adventure in the Dream of Life without the burdens of old: memories, feelings and accomplishments or failures to ruin this new adventure.

Dear Risingtide

I don’t like to use Karma (Hinduism). Yes we have/need pass through some experiences that are needed in our evolution. For some actions we had in the past (lives) will cause a reaction in our actual life and future lives. I prefer use trials and expiations.

Importance for not remember our past lives is to avoid we commit same mistakes repeatedly. Those memories will not interfere in our actual life since your enemies from past live probably surround you, sometimes in your home in the form a close relative that you have big issues. If you recognize as enemy from past life you will start immediately fight again and both you lose the opportunity trim the edges and finally make peace!

Regards

Risingtide: There is no such thing as Karma. It's a man-made concept to please or control the ego. Reality doesn't need Karma.

Lauterb: There are no mistakes.

We lose our memory because life would become overwhelming, and the memories can defocus the soul to the point of confusion. We do have an imprint, but that is limited, a simple example being. Knowing if you steal money, there are repercussions for such an action.

Jimrich, without doubt Karma exists,we are entwined with it. No one can get out of here without paying the bloody thing off, and that's a big pain in the ass!

Love is the key

Dear Jimrich

By mistakes you can understand as crimes and other bad things these are real mistakes that compromise your future and hold your evolutionary journey till you redeem and repair all damages you caused by your "mistakes"

By your free will you decide but you are resposible for your decision and mistakes come out from bad decisions.

Dont you agree?

No, not at all but I learned at another forum that disagreeing with "some" members could get me BANNED from the forum so this is all I will say for now. PM me if you want to talk more.

An uncarved block of wood can be carved into anything. As the carver goes about shaving off piece after piece, the options of what the block can be carved into become less and less. It is similar with life. We are born as an uncarved block (though not perhaps all from the same type of wood). Each thing we learn, colors and affects the next, and so our ego is carved by the experiences of our life. A fresh start gives us the opportunity to experience life without all of the limitations, biases, and filters on our understanding that were carved into the previous incarnation. Yet an incarnation is just one state of our awareness. Perhaps outside of an incarnation, we have access to the lessons of all of our previous incarnations, and much more.

We cross the River Styx and enter the Bardo / that's just the way it is. I accessed some memories in a past life regression not too long ago.

while there are no mistakes there are things we have done, in the past, which we would do differently now.

Richard Bach said something like that:

I don't profess to have the facts, but do have my share of ideas, opinions, beliefs etc. So I enter this as food for thought: One's "past" is not lost. It's recorded(some call this the Akashic Records.) Once access to the records is learned they then become available.(Some supposedly can read the records for others.)A soul(for lack of a better term) is a compilation of its entire past. Each "life" is blended into the whole. But if one wants the details of a particular incarnation I think they can be made available. As I said , food for thought.
