Re: Crazy Weather
Post: #111674 / Re: Gerrit #111671

I did a google search, and it does show (according to this one page) that it can and did happen. It said... East of Alice Springs toward the Qld border is an old cattle station called Old Andado. While it is not an official weather station, temperatures have been recorded there of over 60 degrees over consistent days in 1989. The highest temperature Molly Clark who lives there recorded was 64 celcius.
I have been in the Simpson Desert during the Summer working with days of 55 degrees.

Take a look at this website... http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/IOTD/vi…
Quote = "In 2003, Queensland, Australia, was the hottest place on Earth, with a temperature of 69.3 degrees C (157 degrees F)."

For those of us not knowing the Celsius to fahrenheit, here is a simple formula.

double the Centigrade temp, subtract the first digit of the result from the result and add 32. It works pretty well; you’re usually right on but you’ll never be more than 1 degree Fahrenheit off.

For example, 23 C equals 74 F.

23 C x 2 = 46;
46 – 4 = 42;
42 + 32 = 74 F
