Penny: Thanks for that info.

Re: 2012 Mayan Calendar and other interesting info Post: #111682 / Re: Nightowl #111672 | | | The Mayan calendar is quite different than any calendar in use. The calendar used in most of the world today (gregorian) is only 2010 years old. There are older ones. Our calendar is based on cycles of the sun, with extra days allocated in some years to "make up the difference" for what is actually happening in the heavens - astronomically speaking. Most native cultures live by a lunar calendar - even is this day and age - as it is a more accurate alignment with astronomical cycles.
The Mayan calendar is special because it is round...and it is ongoing. There is nothing in the Mayan legacy that says life will end in 2012. Mayans were watchers of the heavens, and great mathmeticians. They developed a calendar that recorded forward and backward in time - as we know time. Everything is cyclical. There are actually a number of calenders each denoting certain cycles. The year 2012 is when one of the longest cycles come around for change. That cycle is approximately 23,000 years. So, Earth, as a planet, and all who live on her are going through a 23,000 year change of cycle. It will be the "end of life as we know it." And, life will go on, but in new and more powerful ways. As Jenny stated, the Earth is becoming a star!
Before you begin debating whether humans can survive on a star, let me assure you that humans have occupied the realms of Earth for millinea - in numerous forms. But, if it helps you to understand the concept think of it this way...Earth will be a source of Light, not a receiver of Light.
We, the ones living here, are actively contributing to the "Lightness"...with every choice we make. In every way that we perceive ourselves and others. In every way we respond to they circumstances of our daily lives.
For a great read on 2012 and the Mayan calendar I recommend The Mayan Code by Barbara Clow Hand. It is simple to understand and yet packed with the spiritual message of this time.
Yes, these changes are part of an anscension. The planet is changing vibration, and so are we. The changes are bringing about a greater awareness of Unity. All is One. Likewise, as the awareness of individuals shifts, so too, it aids the planetary shift.
I hope this helps. With Love & Light, Carla
